John played four sports (baseball, football, football, lacrosse) at William Penn Charter School in Philadelphia. He scored 8 goals and had 15 assists in his lax career for the Quakers, while being named 1st Team All-State in his senior year (2012). At Villanova, John played both LSM and close defense, appearing in 54 games of which he started in 29. A Wildcats captain in 2016, John was named to the Big East All-Tournament Team and played in the North/South Senior All-Star Game. Upon graduation, John ranked third all-time, behind Villanova legends Brian Karalunas and John LoCascio, in caused turnovers (with 57). Moderski played two years in the MLL with the Rattlers (2017 in Rochester and 2018 in Dallas). His MLL stat line for 2 seasons was 20 games played, 62 ground balls and 21 CTs. John joined former Rattlers Coach Tim Soudan with the Chrome of the PLL in 2019. He scored his sole professional goal vs. Chaos on July 17, 2019, a game the Chrome won 19-11. John was a Chrome regular on defense (mainly LSM), in 2021. In the PLL, Moderski played in 14 total games and had 29 GBs and 14 CTS.
