A four-card promotional giveaway was distributed at various Western Lacrosse Association (WLA) venues during the 2001 Canadian box lacrosse summer season. There were four known cards issued (Devin Dalep, Ted Dowling, Curt Malawsky, and John Olson). The card fronts feature action shots of the players with the club logo in the upper left hand. At the bottom of the front is the statement “Canada’s Extreme Sport” (with the “X” in bold red), followed by the player’s name. The bottom right depicts the WLA league logo. The card backs have the club name on a vertical colored stripe on the left border. There is a head shot of the player, with his name and demographics immediately to the right. The back bottom features career statistics and a brief narrative underneath. Lastly, in the bottom right is the logo for “theboxrocks.com” (possibly the sponsor for the set – although this web address now takes one directly to the WLA homepage). Each card back also notes an award or accomplishment for each player, thus warranting their inclusion in the set as WLA Stars.
