Sam Apuzzo Player Collection

Born Samantha Apuzzo on September 12, in West Babylon, Suffolk County, Long Island, New York.

A four-year captain at West Babylon High School, Sam scored 375 goals for the Eagles.  Apuzzo went on to star at Boston College, leading the B.C. Eagles to three NCAA DI championships appearances in her last three seasons.  She is Boston College’s all-time leading goal scorer (breaking Covie Stanwick’s record) with 283 and career points leader as well (397).  Three times a Tewaaraton Award nominee (2017, 2018, 2019), Sam won the prestigious honor in 2018, a year in which she also won the Honda Award as the National Player of the Year.  She was a three-time IWLCA 1^st Team All-American.  Apuzzo spent two seasons with the New York Pride in the now-defunct WPLL, scoring 8 goals and assisting on 7 more in 2019.  Since joining Athletes Unlimited AU), Apuzzo has been one of the foremost individuals on and off the field.  She is a member of the AU Player Executive Committee.  In the initial season of 2021, Sam accumulated 1,685 leaderboard points.  She was first in goals scored with 36 (including 2 two-pointers) and second in points with 47.  In 2022, Sam was narrowly edged (by just 16 points) as individual champion by Taylor Moreno, even though she tallied 1,782 leaderboard points.  She came in second in both goals (24) and points (41).  Also in 2022, Sam was inducted into the Suffolk (Long Island) Sports Hall of Fame.
