The Montreal Express were part of the growth year of the NLL in 2002. Rather than an expansion team, however, the Express had relocated from Columbus, Ohio, where they had played in 2001 as the Landsharks. Of the 22 man roster, only backup goalie Alain Lalumiere was French Canadian with the remainder being English Canadian. This made it difficult for the team to connect to its fanbase. Owner Brad Watters sold the club after only one season.
The Express, however, were memorialized to some degree with a fine lacrosse card set featuring nine members of the team – coaches and players. The set is highlighted by Hall of Famers in Head Coach Terry Sanderson and forward Tracey Kelusky. The card backs are all uniform and only have information advertising the two sponsors – Zibo! and Domco Design. There is no player information or statistics on the back of the cards.
